If you download joomla does it have every thing you need to start and complete an official website with a domain name of your own or do you have to go to GO DADDY .COM for it.

Joomla is a content management system and is nothing like dreamweaver at all. dreamweaver creates websites…. Joomla is already a website. Its a php based website that allows the user to administer the site content using a backend control panel and a database so that you do not have to have ANY programming knowledge. They can also log into the backend control panel and administer the website from any computer connected to the internet.

FURTHERMORE: Joomla is uploaded and installed into your webspace. You then have to associate the program with your database by changing some lines in the config.php file. (somtimes this file is called install.php)

it has nothing to do with domain names. it is used like a prebuilt website template but one that is completely ready to use once it is installed on your server (webspace).

i downloaded joomla 1.5.1 .zip of size 5MB , after unzip i dont know how to install since no install.exe/setup.exe file … please help .

There should be an install directory. Go to yoursite.com/install

plz tell me how to edit an Joomla Template downloaded file suchthat i want to remove their content and i want to keep my own content suchas images , flash etc?

when i’m finish downloading joomla what do i do? i download it in Zip file i saw a list of files which one do i Click?

do not click on any file
use an ftp for upload this folder (joomla) to your host with the name "joomla"
the tape www.yoursite.com/joomla
and the installation will begein

As for the question about allowing visitors to your Joomla! site to download or share music. I could not find any plug-ins that allow that, and my brother didn’t know of any.

The Joomla! main website had a news announcement about having a Music Sharing Community,

what should i do?? i downloaded the zip package (Joomla_1.5.10-Stable-Full_Package.zip) after that i unzip the files….. and i was messing because i dont know what should i do next!!!!
pls tell as soon as possible!!!

You have to install php, mysql & apache server first then only you can run Joomla, don’t need to install WAMP server.

I just downloaded Joomla 1.5 from ( http://www.joomla.com ). I opened up the zipped file, but all I got were a bunch of folders, all sprouting into even MORE folders, with a bunch of php files inside, that my PC doesn’t know how to run.

What is the first step towards sorting all this out and getting started with Joomla?

Joomla is an online content management system, you will not be able to run it from your pc unless you have Xampp or some type of server.

What you need to do is upload every file in the zip file to your server then visit your domain name, ensure you have a Mysql database ready with the host address, username and password and then yu will be able to set it up on your server.

Depending on what you are trying to acheive, Joomla may or may not be the right choice for you. I am happy to help you if needed as I have setup Joomla over 100 times…
