Hello,i am new to joomla.i have went through many tutorials bt none of them seem to explain that module thing .does adding modules and adding extension mean all the same?is there any common way to install and configure modules?
Yes, modules are extensions. When you download a packaged module from either the Joomla site or a third-party developer, go to your admin backend, click on Installers at the top, then to Modules. You’ll see "Upload Package File;" navigate to the package you downloaded and install it that way. After it’s done, just go to your Modules main page to find and configure it. Be sure to add the module position that you choose for it to your template. And no, there is no standard way of configuring modules. They all have their own options. However, they do share common options such as position, hide/show title, etc. (you’ll see this when you open each module to configure).

I like to build a free website where users can share tutorials on how to use different programs, and I have no clue how to start, is Joomla the right way to go?

I should clear this up, I want to build the website myself, and it is going to be free for the users.
I could be wrong about this (I build sites for a living so I don’t search on these) but I don’t think you can do this sort of thing for free. If you’re wanting something setup where people share that could result in using alot of webspace which can get costly. Not to mention you’ll need someone to build it. I wuold be a little surprised to hear someone would offer those services for free… still, best of luck. Worst case I’d look into finding a friend who’s familiar with building websites and knows a little programming for the cheapest route (aside from figuring out how to do it yourself).
I have a free-hosting server with AGILTYHOSTER @ tutorials.agilityhoster.com I created a MYSQL DB, i downloaded and unzipped Joomla_1.5.6-Stable-Full_Package - Now what do i do from there? can you help me install it, or install it for me, my email address is nazmul_93@yahoo.co.uk - where i will be willing to give you my ftp details!
Do not set the permissions to 777. If you have extracted the joomla zip file to your root of the website you just need to point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com and the install script will launch. /you will need to set a a mysql databse on your hosting account nad have that info ready during the install.

I’m still in high school but I know I’m to try to major in Computer Sciences but it hits me: I have just about no knowledge in programming whatsoever.
The first thing I want to know about is using Java to create a program code. If anything, the Java is what I need the most b/c I figure I can pick up the source code and everything between there as I learn the Java.
Next I wanted to ask if anybody could provide a good tutorial for new Joomla! users. I’m interested in starting up my own business in the future and want to be prepared when the time comes for me to have to set up my own website, intranet, or anything else for the business.
If anyone could just list a few sources that they know of for one (or both) of the subjects, I’d be extremely grateful.

Can’t seem to locate an actual tutorial on the basic setup and steps that the average user normally takes to get a functional website up. Please let me know if you are aware of any sites that offer tutorials for this. Thanks!
yeah, ummm all I can seem to find within joomla is an explanation of how each section works, which is fine, but I really want a tutorial so it tells me "here’s what you should be doing first and here’s how to do it…."
