Which one do i pick and run or what do i do with all the files i downloaded?
That needs to be run on a web server with PHP and MySQL
You can get a working web server at
http://wampserver.com/en/index.php
Download and run………you will see a WAMP directory……dump the files into
C:\wamp\www\joomla
You need to create the folder joomla
you can then access it at
http://localhost/joomla
Good luck…….Joomla is great!
If you are just starting, get V1.5

2009 Jul 12 4Joomla doesn’t run like ordinary software. It is meant to be installed on a web server. It also requires the PHP programming language and MySQL database. These programs are normally present on web servers, but not on regular desktop computers.
If you’re running a web server, copy the joomla files to a subdirectory of the server root (htdocs in apache.)
Continue by pointing your browser through localhost to find the joomla directory. An installation page will appear guiding you through the database portion.
Really there’s no good reason to run Joomla at home unless you’re also running it on a working server somewhere.
The easiest way to run server is to get hosting on a service that supports it (freehostia.com is my own favorite – it’s free, supports all you need, and has no ads) Freehostia has an automated installation script that installs Joomla on your site for you.
Good luck!
